Bringing Glory to God Through Excellence in Education
The history of Faith Baptist School is one of change, opportunity and adventure.
Faith Baptist Church began its ministry in 1987. The school was established to provide parents living in the Kaiserslautern Military Community a Christian based academic setting. The youth area of the church was rented for a Montessori preschool program. In 1988, The Montessori director added a Kindergarten. Carol Segrest took over the leadership in 1989 and a first grade was added. Under the direction of Grace Chin, 1996-1999, the school grew to grades K-2 and the ABeka curriculum was adopted. Gisela Horak, the principal from 1999-2006 provided direction as the school grew to grades K-6. Through the years as grades have been added we continue to strive to meet the needs of KMC families as well as other non-military families in the community.
Faith Baptist School is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, (ACSI). The students are tested yearly using the Terra Nova Standardized Achievement Test. As a result of our strong curriculum our school continues to perform at a high academic level.
As we look to the future, there is an increasing need to add additional grades to meet the needs of students in the KMC area. During the 2011-2012 school year we have begun to implement a plan to facilitate students who are enrolled in an on-line middle/high school. This has been put in place to accommodate families who find themselves with severely limited schooling options. We have further plans to develop this into a full middle school and someday a high school, with teacher-led, self-contained classrooms.
Because we operate in an ever-changing military community there have been many students, parents and teachers who have been a part of Faith Baptist School. This has enriched and deepened the foundation of this diverse school. As God leads us to accomplish His purposes and change people’s lives we know it will continue to be an adventure filled with change and opportunity.
